Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, however, the year’s biggest events, including GDC, SXSW, E3, and Gamescom have all been restricted to online-only or canceled outright. Geoff Keighley announced on his Twitter that the Steam Game Festival: Summer Edition is set for June 9th-14th. Developers can register interest.
The event will give players a chance to get a closer look at games coming up over the next year or so. Players can try out the games and then add them to their wishlist.
At present, 2K, Activision, Bandai Namco, Bethesda, Blizzard, Bungie, CD Projekt Red, Digital Extremes, EA, Microsoft, Sony, Square Enix, Private Division, Riot Games, Steam, and Warner Bros. are confirmed to be involved, and the official announcement says additional publishers will be revealed in the coming weeks.
